Chemical Peels in Pinecrest

For our traditional peels, we offer two basic levels of intensity: light and medium. Additionally, we offer a range of SkinCeuticals and VI Peels that we can customize for every patient.

The Micropeel Sensitive Skin Solution is the least penetrative peel, making it the option that offers the quickest recovery period. Since this peel does not go very deep into your skin, it is best for more surface-level concerns. This includes acne, fine lines, dryness, uneven tone, and redness.

Next up is the Micropeel Plus 20 Solution, which can reach a little deeper into your skin’s layers. Though they take slightly longer to recover from, you can address a wider range of issues with these treatments. Alongside more advanced acne, these peels can also help treat clogged pores as a result of breakouts. Minor sun spots or damage from tanning beds are common concerns that we can use these peels for.

Our final peel in the SkinCeuticals line is the Micropeel 30 Solution. This peel can offer dramatic results thanks to its low pH, which increases absorption. You can address pigment concerns like freckles and deeper sun damage, more severe scarring like surgery scars, rosacea, and deeper wrinkles with this peel.

The VI Peel line of formulas is much like the traditional ones in that they come with varying levels of intensity. However, a VI Peel includes a gentler approach to medium-depth chemical peeling, which means it’s a great choice for patients who prefer a shorter, more comfortable downtime. When you want a peel that is perfect for skincare maintenance, reducing uneven skin tone, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and targeting acne, the VI Peel is a great choice.

This will depend on the type of peel you get as well as the length of your skin cycle. For lighter peels, patients who tend to recover from other skin treatments particularly fast may only need about 3 days of downtime before their peeling is complete.

Meanwhile, for those who get a medium peel, recovery can last anywhere from 5 to 8 days on average, and possibly a little longer. After this, you will likely notice your skin texture and tone improving over the course of about 4 to 6 weeks.

During this time, we recommend avoiding irritation as much as possible. Your face will be more sensitive than usual as it rejuvenates, so touching or picking at the peeling parts of your skin may make the discomfort worse.

Your provider can help answer any questions you may have about the recovery process during your appointment. They can also recommend methods for easing itching and redness.

After the initial recovery and the 4 to 6 weeks of smoother, more radiant skin, the natural skin cycle will kick in. At this point, dead skin cells will start to appear again, which can lead to dullness and dryness that make blemishes and wrinkles stand out. Usually, this begins about 4 weeks after peak results. We recommend getting another peel once you start noticing a return of your old skin concerns.

For patients who have received deeper peels, we may not suggest getting another deep peel during your next appointment. This is because more intense peels too soon after each other can cause damage to the skin. Your provider may suggest a more gentle VI Peel for maintenance purposes if that is best for the current condition of your skin.
